How does LENS work?

LENS works by measuring the brain's natural electrical activity and briefly reflecting a small portion of that information back to the nervous system. This gentle feedback allows the brain to recognize inefficient patterns and make its own corrections. By communicating directly with the nervous system, LENS helps facilitate neuroplasticity—the brain's natural ability to adapt, reorganize, and create healthier patterns of function. 

 

Think of it like gently tapping a reset button. The signal is not forcing the brain to change. Instead, it interrupts patterns of suppression or overactivity that may no longer be serving you, allowing the brain to reorganize itself and regulate more efficiently.

What can you expect?

Your first appointment includes reviewing your nervous system evaluation to better understand your symptoms, history, and goals. This determines what LENS settings best match your nervous system. 

During your session, small sensors are gently placed on your scalp or your body. These sensors are painless and simply measure your brains electrical activity and provide the gentle feedback back to your nervous system. The actual neurofeedback signal is delivered in seconds, although appointments typically last 30-45 minutes.

Your provider will individualize the frequency and duration of treatment based on your symptoms, nervous system sensitivity, and response to therapy. Typically, a minimum of 8-10 sessions are recommended to start. Some patients meet their goals sooner, while others need closer to 20 sessions to achieve desired outcomes. Most patients notice changes after one or two sessions. 

LENS Neurofeedback

Your brain is designed to adapt, heal, and regulate itself. Sometimes, however, it becomes stuck in patterns that developed after stress, illness, injury, or ongoing nervous system overload. These patterns can make it difficult for the brain to function as efficiently as it was designed to. LENS (Low Energy Neurofeedback System) is a gentle, non-invasive form of neurofeedback that communicates directly with the nervous system. LENS uses a very low-energy electromagnetic signal to help interrupt inefficient brainwave patterns and encourage the brain to reorganize itself. The goal is to support the brain's natural ability to self-regulate through neuroplasticity—the brain's remarkable ability to change and adapt.
